OTB Release 9.1.0

Dear OTB community,

We are happy to announce that OTB version 9.1.0 has been released!

Ready to use binary packages are available on the package page of the website:

The Docker image is available :
docker pull orfeotoolbox/otb:9.1.0

For those who want to use docker with python 3.10 or 3.12, you can respectively pull images 9.1.0_ubuntu22 and 9.1.0_ubuntu24.

It is also possible to checkout the branch with git:

git clone https://gitlab.orfeo-toolbox.org/orfeotoolbox/otb.git OTB -b release-9.1

The documentation for OTB 9.1.0 can be found here .

This minor version introduce a the SPOT5 SWH support. The following dependencies are updated:

  • Libjpeg-turbo from 2.0.0 to 3.0.3
  • geotiff from 1.7.1 to 1.7.3
  • GDAL from 3.8.3 to 3.9.0
  • For Windows : Python 3.10 is now the default for bindings (python 3.7 for Release 9.0 because of a specific bug that was solved after python 3.10 release)

Note for python > 3.8 users: you need to recompile python bindings before using otb. The recompile_bindings.sh script will take care of that for you.

For QGis users, the otb plugin is not packaged since version 3.36 (see https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/visualchangelog336/index.html#breaking-changes ). You can use otb with plugin available on QGis catalog. See the following cookbook instructions.

The Release Note for this final build is available

To download the packages one by one for a modular installation, you can download them here and follow the instructions in the cookbook .

      • Thanks Thibaut,

soon the latest release will be available on MacPorts.

I noticed in the release announcement that “Mac version is not supported”. Well, with MacPorts both OTB and QGIS (as well as a number of GIS related software) are available –usually with the latest version available.

        • Yes by “Not supported” we meant we don’t distribute anymore a .dmg installable package. It is great news that it is available on macports, thanks for the work!
We will update our page to add MacPort possibility in parallel with the docker image for MacOS users.

          Best regards
