We are very happy to announce the release of Monteverdi2 version 0.4!
If you only have a few seconds to read this post and want to help us making Monteverdi 2, here is a short summary:
- Download Monteverdi2 0.4 (Windows and Mac OS X installer available, please note that installers does not require any privilege). For Linux users, new version will be soon available for update through your favorite package manager software. As usual sources can also be downloaded here.

Regarding the novelties of Monteverdi2 0.4, there have been three major improvements:
- Processing through the OTB applications is available (was the top feature request)
- A simple database manager which allows to open multiple images in the application has been added. It was not the second top feature request, but was a necessary step toward multiple images visualization.
- Some more rendering options have been added : no-data handling, unconstrained mode, gray-scale mode. Their will be more to come in the future. New widgets have also been added, as well as more persistence (last roi and zoom level).

We would like to thank the 35 users that sent their feedback through the previous poll! We tried to take it into account as much as we could. You could find in the introduction of the new Monteverdi2 survey, the improvements made to Monteverdi2 to answer some of your feedback. Please note that some comments have not been answered yet and that we will try to do it in a future version.

problems on win7 64 bit system. After successfully installation, the program crashes as soon as I launch it.

Hi, did you test the first beta version of Monteverdi2. Do you have it installed on your system?
It works for me on WinXP but it is 32bits system

I installed the first version of Monteverdi 2 and it worked well. But I can’t remember if I installed it on the same 64 bit machine I am using now. The first version, as You know, had few functionalities (it was nice anyway 🙂 ). So, after a little testing i uninstalled it. And i did the previous survey!
Weird…Don’t understand the problem for now. We’re compiling Monteverdi2 on Win7 on the dashboard but I don’t think that this system is 64b:

i tried to install Monteverdi2 version 0.4 on windows.
The installation works file but when i want to start the application, it just crashes. I tried this both on 32 bits and 64 bits machine.

Hello,
There seems to be a crash on certain (non-English and non-French) systems due to an exception raised when loading translation files.
We are working on a fix and will provide a patched version as soon as possible.
For now, you can get around the problem by forcing the locale of your system to English. For example, by setting ‘LANG=C’, or ‘LANG=’en_EN’ or ‘LANG=en_EN.UTF-8’ in the Monteverdi2 startup scripts.

I tried to download Monteverdi2-0.4 on both Win7 64bit and Mac OSX 10.6 machines, but I could not start on neither of them. It simply crashes every time I launch. Can anyone help me on that?
